As a leading provider of serviced apartments, we’re always looking at new ways to boost ongoing business development initiatives. This is why we’re delighted to bring you news of a new recruit who will be working to help us do exactly this! Aneal Sadiq joins us with a background in business innovation and enterprise.
Appointed to drive growth into 2012 and beyond, our new intern is working with us as part of a four year honours degree in Business Innovation & Enterprise at Oxford Brookes University. Now in the third year of his degree course, 2011-12 is Aneal’s year in industry which he will spend at our headquarters in Reading.
By applying his extensive knowledge of business theory in a real world business environment, Aneal has the opportunity to make a valuable contribution for House of Fisher customers. He explains: “It’s an exciting time at House of Fisher; especially with the plans to open new aparthotels in Camberley, Bracknell and Basingstoke. I’m confident I can apply my creative and entrepreneurial skills to build on these positive developments and help House of Fisher continue to deliver the exceptional customer service it has built its name on.”

Here at House of Fisher serviced apartments we have a new team member joining us at our Reading based offices. However this is an employee with a difference. Our new member actually comes in the form of a new fully-liveried smart fortwo passion coupé car, which has been supplied to House of Fisher by smart of Reading, based in Richfield Avenue. The new vehicle has been fully branded in our organisations distinctive colours of grey and orange and can be seen on the roads in the Thames Valley area.
As a company we pride ourselves on trying to work in the most environmentally friendly way possible. Our employees are required to visit our serviced apartment locations in Reading, Bracknell, Maidenhead and Basingstoke to attend to our customers’ needs and help to achieve the home away from home atmosphere that we pride ourselves on delivering. There will often only be one member of staff in the car at any given time and therefore we had no need to purchase a large vehicle. The smart fortwo passion coupé fits all of our requirements, allowing us to carry out our business in a more efficient and cost effective manner, at the same time as being the perfect choice in terms of practicality for city driving, due to its size and manoeuvrability.
Look out for our new addition on the roads in and around the Thames Valley area.

House of Fisher alongside TA Fisher Developments Ltd have recently submitted a planning application to turn the former office building known as Beneficial House into a new apart-hotel led mixed-use scheme.
Beneficial House, which occupies a highly prominent visible position on the corner of Easthampstead Road, fronting the Twin-Bridges roundabout, has been vacant for several years. The new proposal, if approved by Bracknell Forest Borough Council, will see the building provide 37 apart-hotel suites aimed at the corporate market, typically those on project work and consultancy, who are here on short-term contracts. The new facility will also incorporate a cafe-bar area, a gymnasium and for the first time a unique business centre which will provide self-contained offices and meeting rooms. The ground floor will also offer a large A3/A4 restaurant which would be perfectly placed to support guests residing in the apart-hotel.
Should planning permission be approved construction will commence early in 2012 with the new facility open for business later that year.

House of Fisher, the leading Thames Valley serviced apartment specialist and part of the TA Fisher Group, is pleased to announce a restructuring within the management team and the anticipation of future growth and expansion within the company.
Carol Harwood takes on the position of Managing Director. Other adjustments within the company see Duncan Mayes moving into the role of Finance Director, where he will continue to provide the company with critical financial advice imperative to the daily running of the organisation. John Fisher assumes the position of Chairman and Chief Executive and will concentrate his attention on the overall strategy, direction and development of new opportunities for the business, in order to continue to boost expansion.
Chairman and Chief Executive, John Fisher added, “As we reach the end of the financial year I am delighted to report such positive changes within House of Fisher. With plans to open new aparthotels in Camberley, Bracknell and Basingstoke, it is a very busy and exciting time for House of Fisher".

Here at House of Fisher, we are extremely pleased to be able to support one of the country’s top show-jumpers, James Fisher. As you can see from the picture, we recently added our logo to one of James’ horseboxes – our team thinks it’s a great improvement!
Our support for James is part of our long history of supporting local businesses; it’s a commitment we take very seriously. James runs Holme Park Farm in the heart of the Thames Valley. At this unique equestrian facility offering a wide range of training and schooling opportunities, James sources and produces horses equipped for top-level competition, in addition to training riders. Breeding on the 70 acres of farmland has also proven to be an extremely successful sideline, generating a string of top-performing horses for the show circuit.
With an international show-jumping career spanning three decades, James has represented his country on no less than 25 Nation’s Cup teams. It’s easy to see why he’s widely regarded as one of Britain’s most established professional show-jumping riders. We’re honoured that the House of Fisher logo now accompanies his horses wherever they go! Find out more about James at www.jfishershowjumping.co.uk

We recently sponsored three fundraising Warrant Officers from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), based in Aborfield, on their quest to raise funds and awareness for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, The Great Britain Disability Football Association, Growing Places, REME Benevolent Fund and the Great Britain Amputee Fund. Mick Cotton, Cliff Johnson and Mark Schorah came up with the idea to take part in a sponsored cycle ride to each of the current Premier League Football clubs, from Newcastle to London, to honour those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. This is something that is all too close to the men’s hearts after losing one of their Corps members, Corporal Matthew Thomas, who was tragically killed in Afghanistan when his vehicle struck a roadside bomb on 25th September 2010.
When we heard about this inspirational fundraising challenge here at House of Fisher we were only too pleased to show our support and happily donated £5000 to help them on their way to reaching their fundraising goal. We would like to congratulate them on raising a remarkable £12,000 through this gruelling cycle ride, which saw the men cover 630 miles over a seven day period. Showing even further commitment to their cause the three warrant officers now plan to add to this total by taking part in a 24 hour cycle ride at the The Meadow shopping centre, in Sandhurst, on Friday the 24th June. This will then be followed by a charity auction at Old Trafford Stadium to continue with the football theme on the 30th July.
We have been truly inspired by the experiences of these men and could not think of a more worthwhile cause to support. If you too would like to donate some money to their cause please visit www.studsandspokes.com or to learn more about their challenge why not take a look at their blog www.studsandspokes.com/news.html, it makes for some very interesting reading.

Reading is gearing up for a bid to be granted city status during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year in 2012. As a business operating within the Thames Valley, House of Fisher completely support the bid, understanding that it is all about recognition for the town and by simply going through the process and taking the opportunity to highlight the towns many strengths Reading will gain national respect. Although there is no direct financial benefit in being made a city, the good publicity generated by winning the bid can only help to build a stronger economy for residents and local businesses alike. Leader of the council, Councillor Jo Lovelock commented, “Everybody who has ever been to Reading is surprised that it is not already a city.”
The government stated towns bidding for city status should be "vibrant, welcoming communities" and Reading seems to tick this box with the many attractions and amenities that it offers both residents and visitors bringing the community closer together. On top of this a report was also published by the Centre For Cities which stated that Reading is one of the places that will lead the UK out of recession. It praises Reading’s skilled workforce, healthy salaries, strong private sector firms, entrepreneurship, and low unemployment rate as the factors driving this.
T A Fisher Group MD says 'Reading already features on a global level economically and given the major attractions on offer it is perhaps overdue for the town to be afforded city status'.
Many people will already be aware that this is not the first time Reading has made a bid for city status. Although the towns two previous bids were unsuccessful this year could mark the turning point with the bookies naming Reading as the favourite to win the bid. Reading’s main competition is likely to be Milton Keynes, Medway and Croydon, however we will not find out who has prevailed until early next year. So watch this space to see who comes out on top.
